Below are some of the highlights of the discussion
- India has a rich legacy in toy-making. Historically Indian toys date back to the Indus Valley Civilization.
- The toy industry is a reflection of a nation’s economy – a strong toy industry equals a strong manufacturing industry.
- China enjoys about 75% market share of global toy manufacturing, and now the country is moving away from low-cost mass toys. It is an opportunity for India.
- In India, close to 40,000 new toys are developed every year, and on average, each toy needs at least three tools. I believe, the Indian tooling industry is capable to cater to the demand. However, we need to work closely with each other.
- Since the last few years, there has been rapid development in the toy-making industry. Further, the Government aims to make India a toy manufacturing hub of the world. The Indian toy industry is set to witness double-digit growth and will require strong tooling support.
